As we close out 2020 and look forward to 2021, a brand-new year with expectancy and promise, it is important to reflect on what has impacted us personally, professionally, financially and emotionally.
The Covid19 pandemic, Australia burning, Trump impeached, Stock Market crash, Olympics cancelled, Tiger King viral, massive BLM protests across major cities, US Elections, mass floods and earthquakes, Locusts in East Africa and South Asia, the deaths of Kobe Bryant, Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa), Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG), Sean Connery and the evolution of Zoom are some of my 2020 reflections.
Challenging though it was, we learned new ways of doing things, successfully managed teams remotely, improved technological capabilities, changed jobs, embraced new opportunities and more importantly to value and appreciate the people around us.
Among the positives was the formal incorporation of Ebony Women International Insurance Network (EWIIN) as a Not For Profit in the summer, and the new branding (ewiin.ca) launched in December. Moving forward in 2021, under the pillars of Personal and Professional Development, Coaching, Networking and Advocacy, EWIIN’s mandate is to provide workshops, mentors, speakers and coaches to prepare you for those opportunities that will open doors and advance your careers in the insurance industry.
We see 2021 as an exciting year – a clean slate, blank canvas, with new opportunities and possibilities. Position yourself and set about establishing your expectations and goals for the next quarter, 1, 3, 5 or 10 years.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with commitment and promise to improve and succeed in all endeavors!
We encourage you to have faith and remain hopeful. Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts (Winston Churchill).
Stay safe, healthy and alert!
